Melanin-rich skin was never meant to chase trends built for someone else’s biology. While the skincare industry obsesses over premature wrinkles and surface aging, our skin is navigating inflammation, pigment memory, barrier disruption, and cumulative UV stress. This disconnect is not accidental; it’s structural. Following trends without context often leads to over-exfoliation, pigment suppression, and long-term damage disguised as “results.” It’s time to stop asking melanin-rich skin to adapt to systems that were never designed for it; and start practicing care rooted in biology, not marketing.
