Beautélanin® was not built from one course, one profession, or one moment of inspiration. It grew through years of formal education, professional practice, entrepreneurship, formulation training, esthetics education, creative exploration, and lived experience.
Founder Judith Saintvil Pluviose, Esq. brings together legal analysis, skincare formulation, hands-on esthetics training, and business leadership development. Each stage of that journey has contributed to Beautélanin®'s mission to advance melanin-centered, behavior-based skincare education and care.

Judith Saintvil Pluviose is an alumna of Cohort 6 of the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women in Business program, delivered in partnership with NYU Stern School of Business.
The experience strengthened her understanding of business strategy, financial planning, leadership, and sustainable growth while connecting her with a community of Black women entrepreneurs building companies across industries.
Her participation in the program helped sharpen the long-term vision for Beautélanin® as more than a skincare practice. Beautélanin® is being developed as a melanin-centered skincare, education, intellectual property, publishing, and future technology company.

Formula Botanica Graduate Feature: Beautélanin® appears in the Formula Botanica graduate portfolio, recognizing the brand's founding formulation.
Judith earned her Diploma in Organic Skincare Formulation from Formula Botanica in 2021, gaining a technical foundation in developing skincare products with greater intention and rigor.
Her formulation education taught her to evaluate ingredients not only for their individual properties, but also for their function within a complete formulation — understanding how each component interacts with the others to produce a safe, effective, and intentionally crafted product.
Formula Botanica later featured Beautélanin® in its graduate gallery, identifying the brand's original hero product as the Golden Honey Micellar Cleansing Oil — a clean formulation developed to serve melanin-rich skin with care and precision.

Judith completed her esthetics education at Long Island Beauty School through its 600-hour New York State–certified esthetics program, earning her diploma in February 2026.
The curriculum covered skin structure and function, skin disorders and diseases, facial treatments, hair removal, electrical modalities and machines, makeup techniques, safety, infection control, and professional development.
Her experience in esthetics school also became the catalyst for deeper questions about how melanin-rich skin is represented in textbooks, licensing education, treatment protocols, and professional standards.
Those questions later informed her book, The Skin They Forgot to Teach, and the development of Beautélanin®'s behavior-based educational frameworks — NoirScience™, MélanoMatrix-D™, and MRBUP®.

Before entering professional skincare, Judith built a career in law. She earned her undergraduate degree in criminal justice, completed graduate study in criminology, and received her Juris Doctor before being admitted to practice law in New York.
Her legal education trained her to examine systems, question accepted standards, interpret language carefully, distinguish evidence from assumption, and identify the consequences of institutional decision-making.

Those skills now shape her work in esthetics education. Beautélanin® approaches skincare not merely as a collection of products and procedures, but as a field influenced by history, language, curriculum, regulation, research priorities, and professional judgment.
Her legal background allows her to examine how the language of skincare education — what is named, what is omitted, what is treated as neutral — shapes clinical outcomes and professional practice.
